In 2012, Greg founded OneWeb with the mission of enabling Internet access for everyone. Prior to OneWeb, in 2007 Greg founded O3b Networks, Ltd. O3b raised approximately 1.3bn USD to design and build a satellite constellation to provide fiber quality backhaul for telecom operators in the most remote markets around the world. Today, O3b has launched 12 satellites, which have attained individual link speeds in excess of 1gbps with only 130ms of latency. The system provides the highest capacity and lowest latency combination of any satellites built to date.
Chief Executive Officer
Eric Béranger is the CEO of OneWeb, where he is responsible for driving the company’s growth towards its goal of providing affordable Internet access for everyone. Prior to joining OneWeb, he worked as the Head of Operations & Quality, Space Systems within the Airbus Defence and Space division created in 2014.
Since starting his career in 1988, he has held management positions in engineering, operations and finance at France Telecom, Société Générale, and Matra Marconi Space (now Airbus Defence and Space). At the inception of EADS in 2000, he was appointed Senior Vice President Marketing for all space activities, and successfully led the negotiations of the Skynet 5-Paradigm secure satcoms PFI project with UK Ministry of Defence. He was subsequently nominated CEO of Astrium Services at its creation in 2003
Under his leadership, the company has grown its revenues and workforce more than 15 fold from 2003 to 2012 and achieved major successes with contracts including Skynet 5 (UK), Satcom BW (Germany), Yahsat (UAE), Passerel (France) and the acquisition of Vizada at the end of 2011.
In 2012 he became CEO of Astrium Satellites, and major milestones for earth observation satellites contracts were achieved. In 2014, as the head of Programs in the new organization “Airbus Defence and Space”, his contribution led to the award of the first electric commercial satellites contracts from SES and Eutelsat.
In 2006, he was awarded the prestigious Chevalier de la légion d’honneur for his accomplishments in developing space activities.
Born in 1963, Colonel in the public reserve of the French Air Force, he is a graduate engineer from the Ecole Polytechnique and Telecom Paris. Married with two children, his interests include flying -he holds a pilot's licence-, sports and science.
VP of Regulatory Affairs
Tony Azzarelli serves as OneWeb’s Vice President of Regulatory Affairs where he is responsible for world-wide market access and licensing, policy changes and spectrum activities.
Prior to joining OneWeb, Tony was Head of Space and Science Services at Ofcom (UK’s Telecom Regulator) where for five years he led the UK’s national and international policy for space and science services. Prior to Ofcom, Tony held senior regulatory positions with Inmarsat, The Boeing Company and the European Space Agency. Tony has also recently served as Vice Chairman of the European Conference Preparatory Group (CPG) and Chairman of CPG-Project Team A, both dealing with the European policy preparations for the 2015 ITU World Radio Conference.
Tony received an Italian “Doctor Laurea” (MSc) in Electronic Engineering with distinctions (specializing in Telecommunications and Computer Science) from the Polytechnic of Turin (Italy), he also holds a Master in Business Administration (MBA), and a graduate certificate from the International Space University. Tony is a qualified Fellow (FIET) and Chartered Engineer (CEng) at the UK Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) and a Board Member of the UK Charter of the Society of Satellite Professionals International (SSPI).
VP of Engineering, Communications Systems
David Bettinger is the VP of Communications Systems at OneWeb, Ltd. and is responsible for the development of the end-to-end communications network including the satellite payload, user terminals, and gateway nodes.
With his diverse background in technology, David offers a unique blend of knowledge and cross-functional experience to help educate the global community on the importance of satellite technology.
Prior to joining OneWeb, David was Chief Technology Officer and VP of Engineering at iDirect. In this capacity he was responsible for the oversight of all technology decisions within iDirect and drove the strategic direction for product development, technology alliances and mergers & acquisitions. David is the recipient of a number of patents in the field of satellite communications and is the author of several white papers and articles on evolving satellite trends and technologies. He is actively involved in industry forums, associations and conferences worldwide.
David is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a MSc. degree in Electrical Engineering.
VP of Finance and Business Operations
Steven Fay serves as OneWeb’s Vice President of Finance & Business Operations and is responsible for all Business Planning, Financial Analysis, Treasury, Corporate Development, and Accounting, as well as oversight for the Corporate IT, Partnerships, HR and Facilities operations of the company.
Prior to OneWeb, Steve was the Head of Business Operations for the LEO satellite program at Google. Prior to Google, he served as Senior Vice President of Finance, Treasury, & Systems for Catalyst Health Solutions, a Fortune 500 company. Before that, Steve spent 10 years with Sirius XM Satellite Radio serving as Vice President of Corporate Finance, Business Planning, and Decision Support where he drove growth from a start-up operation to over $3 billion in annual revenues. While at Sirius XM, he raised several billion in debt and equity financings and was a major participant in the merger and integration of XM and Sirius in 2008.
Steve has an undergraduate degree from Dickinson College and his M.B.A., with honors, from The George Washington University. In 2017, Steve was selected as a finalist for NVTC's CFO of the Year Award.
Chief Commercial Officer
Samer Halawi is the Chief Commercial Officer for OneWeb where he is responsible for the integrated commercial success of OneWeb overseeing the distribution, product management, communications, business development, strategy, and marketing teams.
Samer brings tremendous experience and expertise with more than 20 years in business development, telecommunications and global satellite communications. Prior to joining OneWeb, Samer served as the Chief Executive Officer for Thuraya Telecommunications Company where he led a turnaround in Thuraya’s performance and positioning and drove its growth to become a prominent international mobile satellite operator.
Samer’s background also includes leading the business development and strategy for starting-up and growing a new venture in the digital space focused on mobile content, IPTV, mobile advertising, and web management. Samer spent eight years at Inmarsat in global strategy and running operations for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific. His telecommunications experience includes roles at Flag Telecom and ICO Global Communications (ICO). His role at ICO followed a private placement for the shares of the company that he led during a three-year period in investment banking in the Middle East.
Samer started his career in the automotive industry, where he occupied several positions with Chrysler Corporation and Ford Motor Company. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Lawrence Technological University and an MBA with a concentration in Finance from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor in the U.S.
Senior Vice President, Program Office
Suzi McBride is the Senior Vice President of OneWeb's Program Office, where she is responsible for coordinating the overall project plan to develop, construct, and launch the satellite constellation and ground system. Prior to joining OneWeb, she served as the Vice President of the Iridium Program Management Office and Launch Services. In this position she developed the PMO, and led the launch strategy and supplier selection for Iridium NEXT. She managed the PMO with focus on budget planning, cost and schedule control, and configuration and risk management.
Mrs. McBride has spent more than 20 years in program management and engineering in the aerospace and telecommunication industries. Prior to joining Iridium, she held the position of Program Manager at General Dynamics (now Orbital Sciences Corporation) where she managed NASA and U.S. Air Force satellite programs. Prior to joining General Dynamics, Mrs. McBride was a Program Director at Motorola. During her time at Motorola she managed large new technology cellular system implementations in different locations around the world. She also worked for six years on the Iridium program at Motorola’s Satellite Communications Group as a senior engineer in satellite manufacturing and launch. Early in Mrs. McBride’s career she worked for Price Waterhouse in New York City as a management consultant.
Mrs. McBride received her MBA from the University of Tennessee in the Executive Aerospace & Defense program and her dual undergraduate degrees, a B.S. in Industrial Engineering from Columbia University and a B.A. in Management Engineering from Claremont McKenna College. She also holds a Master’s degree in Program Management from George Washington University and is PMI certified.
Ross Vincenti serves as the General Counsel for OneWeb. As a member of the executive team and the company’s chief legal officer, he is responsible for all legal and regulatory matters affecting the company’s operations worldwide.
Prior to joining OneWeb, Ross served as the Chief Legal Officer for Sisvel International, SA, (and as Managing Director for its U.S. subsidiary SISVEL U.S., Inc.), a privately held international intellectual property licensing, monetization and consulting firm. Before joining Sisvel, Ross was Vice President and Deputy General Counsel for Clearwire. Prior to joining Clearwire Ross served as Senior Counsel at Sprint Nextel Corporation and as chief counsel for Sprint’s XOHM wireless broadband division. Ross has also held Vice President/General Counsel roles with Siemens’ North American mobile wireless communications division, and with FutureLink.
Ross received his law degree from the University of Southern California where he was an editor of both the Major Tax Planning Journal and the Computer/Law Journal. In 2008 he was honored as the “Top Technology Transactions Lawyer” in the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area by the Washington Business Journal.
